A Brief History

In 2002, a small group from Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Kemblesville, PA gathered for Bible study and fellowship with the vision of planting a “daughter” church in the Kennett Square area.

Worship services began in June 2002 in a rented banquet hall in the borough of Kennett Square, and Kennett Community Church quickly grew to an active congregation.

It soon became apparent that Kennett Community Church would need to begin looking for a new and more permanent space.

Stillwaters Farm

Stillwaters Farm was the dream of Alice and Gene Dripps. Forty years ago, the property was purchased with the intent of becoming a Christian retreat center, a place where people could gather to worship, reflect on their faith, and look for God’s guidance in their lives. The dream moved forward, a building was erected and parts of the mission were accomplished. However, the project was never fully completed.

Kennett Community Church made arrangements to purchase the property in late 2005, significantly below market value, due to the generosity of a believer who shared in the vision of using the property for Christian worship.

In 2006, Kennett Community Church became Stillwaters Presbyterian Church.

An Interim Home

This fall we will begin meeting at Christ Community Fellowship in Chatham, PA while we complete Stillwaters. This lovely church is located on Route 841 just 1/2 mile north of Route 1 and is being made available to us by the generosity of its congregation.

We will be meeting Sundays from 3:30-5:30. This will include a regular worship service and fellowship time for the adults and an exciting, innovative Junior church for the children during the sermon. The youth group will meet from 4:15-5:00.

Every month there will be a special program we call First Tuesday. From 6-7 we will share a covered dish dinner followed by age-appropriate activities. There will be culturally relevant adult studies, youth group for the teens, and Pioneer Club for the kids.

Other monthly programs include Third Tuesday Prayer, bi-weekly women’s Bible study, bi-weekly home groups, and men’s and women’s special activities.
